Lexie is Finally Walking!

At 19 1/2 months old now, Lexie has finally decided to learn to walk! About a month ago she started to walk while pushing a stroller or toy shopping cart, but has had no desire to walk unassisted. After getting her ready for bed tonight, I decided to walk Lexie around the house for practice while she held onto one of my fingers. Then I decided to find a toy (the jingle bell stick) that would feel similar to holding onto one of my fingers. For a few minutes I helped Lexie walk while she held the toy and I held the toy to help stabilize her. I soon started providing less and less support to the toy and soon Lexie was walking by herself, as long as she had the toy in her hand. She eventually walked about 8 or 10 feet between Justin and me! She giggled and giggled every time she walked back and forth between us--I think she's feeling pretty proud of herself! Lexie's physical therapist will be thrilled to hear her big news tomorrow!
