Winter Quarters

For Family Home Evening we took the kids to the Winter Quarters Temple and Visitors Center. It's nice having such a beautiful Church History site so close to us, and a temple that we can visit frequently now. Winter Quarters is where the Mormon Pioneers stopped for the winter while making their westward trek to the Salt Lake Valley. It is amazing to think about how they survived a winter here in such harsh conditions. At Winter Quarters is a small cemetery where many pioneers are buried who died that winter. There is also now a temple there that has just been recently built where members of the Church can worship and perform sacred ordinances such has marriages that can be sealed for time and all eternity.
