Got Blood?
There hasn't been too much to report since my last post. Annie got her last gamma globulin dose yesterday and they don't plan to make any changes in her treatment until Monday. At that point they will hopefully agree to double her vancomycin dose and possibly add rifampin. Once Annie is well into those therapies, if there hasn't been any improvement, they will reconsider a colonoscopy, but right now the risks are too high. Just this weekend Annie's temperatures started spiking again, as high as 101.4. Her blood work yesterday also showed that Annie's hemoglobin is continuing to drop, from 9.6 a week ago, to 8.2, and finally 7.8 today. So she's receiving a blood transfusion today. She's been bleeding from her colon since nearly the beginning of this whole ordeal which started the first week of August and finally it's just gotten to be too much. We still have a long road ahead of us with lots of possible complications still, so please continue to keep Annie in your prayers.
