Molly's Getting Baptized!

Molly is turning 8 years old at the end of the month and is preparing to be baptized!  Baptism in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints occurs when a child turns 8 years old--the age at which a child becomes accountable for their actions and choices.  We believe that baptism by immersion is an ordinance in which we enter into covenants with Heavenly Father.  By being baptized, we promise to follow Christ, keep His commandments, serve others, and be an example of Christ for others.  Heavenly Father then in turn promises us that we will have His spirit with us to guide, direct, and comfort us; and promises that we will be able to return to live with him again if we live faithful.

Now that Molly is turning 8, she has chosen to be baptized.  We are so proud of her for making this decision and choosing to follow Christ and keep the commandments.  Molly let me take some portraits of her in her baptismal dress and new Sunday dress.  I remember being baptized in a white dress so I thought it would be neat to make this white dress for Molly to get baptized in.  She is very excited to be baptized, and we hope her day is special and memorable for her.
