The past 24 hours have been very uneventful. That's always a good thing! Annie has been off zofran for 36 hours now, on her at-home feeding schedule, with no vomiting or retching. So this morning on rounds, the doctors thought there was no reason Annie couldn't go home later tonight!
The doctors and nurses have prepared all the discharge paperwork. We're just waiting for our home health company to come by this afternoon to finish our training on central line care and IV drug administration that we'll continue at home. Once that's done, we're outta here!! :)
I had three wonderful friends drive up through a snow storm this morning to come visit me at the hospital for my birthday today! It was wonderful to have visitors! Especially since one sweet friend made me a delicious birthday cake! I'm blessed to have such kind and thoughtful friends!
We've now celebrated three birthdays in our family at the hospital with Annie in the last year--my birthday today, Lexie's birthday the day after Annie's spinal fusion in December, and Molly's birthday on the day of Annie's patellectomy surgery in March. I'm really hoping that trend doesn't continue!
We have a lot of things to get set up and organized in order to start taking care of Annie at home, but our case manager here has been working to get things up and running for us. We'll start receiving IV and central line supplies and her IV meds will be delivered each week to our home. We've also had to find a new pharmacy for one of her new antibiotics since it has to be compounded. But I think we are close to heading home soon! What a wonderful birthday present to me, to be able to have my family all at home together again!
